Announcement from the Personnel Committee:

The Personnel Committee has invited Rev. Tim Crist to come to Odena Baptist Church on Sunday, February 12, 2012 in view of a call as full-time Minister of Music and Youth. Tim will lead the music in worship, and lead the choir in a special. At the conclusion of the morning worship service we will take a ballot vote.

Additional Information:

Tim is 34, and his wife, Deanna is 36. They have been married for 8 years. Deanna has two sons from a previous marriage, Chris, 18, and Jordan 11. Tim & Deanna also have a one year old daughter, Peyton, whom they adopted. Tim & Deanna serve as foster-parents with DHR in Chilton County, AL Tim was ordained by White Springs Baptist Church, Rainbow City in 2008.

For the past four years he has served in full-time ministry at Center Hill Baptist Church in Jemison, AL. The first two years he served as Minister of Music and Youth. The past two years has been as Minister to Students (children and youth)/ Associate Pastor.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Leadership from Southeastern Bible College, Birmingham, AL in 2011 and he is currently enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Birmingham Extension.

Tim has been involved in band since 5th grade and was a music-major in college, before changing his major to Christian Leadership. He reads music, and has led youth choirs, adult choirs, praise bands, and praise teams in both volunteer and paid positions. He plays guitar, trombone, and drums.

He loves working with students and comes highly recommended by fellow youth workers, pastors, and other references.

Deanna Crist is the director of CareNet Crisis Pregnancy Center in Clanton, AL. She counsels with girls and young women regarding the sanctity of human life, sexual abstinence, and adoption rather than abortion. As director, Deanna also raises funds for the center by speaking to Civic Organizations about the Biblical view on the issues related to abortion and unplanned pregnancy

Women On Missions

The Valentines Day Banquet is on Friday, February 10, 2012. We need Youth volunteers to work the nursery, perform prep work in the kitchen & help serve tables. Please come, have a great time and help us raise donations for the summer mission trip and other future Youth events. Please see the Youth board or Shelia Giddens for more information.

Thanks to each family who had a part in the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. We didn’t reach our $3500 goal but I’m sure each missionary appreciates the $2705 we received.

Also, a big thanks to the eleven from Odena who attended the Mission Celebration at Oak Grove. We were challenged by two young pastors from our association and we heard how the Pioneer Mission Offering came about. Let’s support our Carpenter’s For Christ with this offering. Envelopes are available in the church vestibule.

February 13th – 19th is focus on WMU week. With our new meeting time (First Tuesday after the first Sunday at 10 AM) this is an excellent time to visit and join. We only set aside one hour each month to learn about, pray for, and do missions. Surely we all have the time. Our missionaries depend on our prayers
